The coasts of the Blue Patagonia Project extend across one of the richest wildlife areas in the Argentine Sea. The coastal-marine area between the cities of Comodoro Rivadavia and Trelew is home to more than sixty islands and protected bays that serve as feeding, breeding, and nesting sites for numerous species of birds and marine mammals.
Of the 16 species of seabirds that nest in Argentina, 13 do so at this site across 21 breeding colonies. Some of these include the giant petrel, the imperial cormorant, the black-necked cormorant, the endemic steamer duck, and the Olrog's gull.
Marisma Camps is located on Bustamante Bay, between beaches of sand, shells, and pebbles that reveal a wide marine horizon. It stands out for the diversity of shorebirds that approach its coasts and for the abundance of salicornia, an edible succulent species.
